| May 13 | At last, I've gotten it together to present some beautiful photos of tundra swans in flight, taken at Middle Creek this past March. | |
| Also, I've had a story accepted by Perihelion SF, and so I hope to be updating my bibliography shortly. | ||
| Apr. 28 | Where goes all my time? I had prepared the following sequence last week, but . . . Anyway, here are a pair of beautiful osprey. | |
| 6 | A photo sequence of a bald eagle going fishing. | |
| Mar. 31 | I finished my photo coverage of the event Wild About Animals, and my page includes links to all the photo albums. | |
| Mar. 24 | On Saturday, March 16, 2013, was the 14th annual event, Wild About Animals, at the Penn State Ag Arena. It was a huge success, and my page includes links to photo albums of the activities (I haven't finished yet, but it's a beginning). | |
| Mar. 9 | Last Sunday, Sue and I went to Middle Creek to see snow geese; however, they weren't on the lake. Saving the trip were a thousand tundra swans as well as an assortment of other waterbirds, including the duck, northern shoveler. | |
| Feb. 24 | What, I'm gone for two weeks and return with more pileated woodpecker photos? I'm afraid so, but these four portraits are something else. | |
| In other good news, I've had a story accepted for the Whortleberry Press anthology Strange Lucky Mysteries: ":Born Lucky" (and I really have to update my biblio to bring it up to date, such as listing Dogcasts of two stories). | ||
| Feb. 10 | Trading places: A comparison between a hairy woodpecker and a pileated woodpecker, on the tree trunk and in flight. | |
| Jan. 28 | My continuation of the release of Canace the bald eagle: His first flight in the wild. | |
| 20 | On the previous Thursday, I participated in the release of Canace the bald eagle. Wow! | |
| 6 | So much to update for the new year, and hopefully I'll get to it next week. In the meantime, here is a sequence of a beautiful gray squirrel and snow. | |
| 1 | I thought I'd begin the new year (and Happy New Year! everyone) with something a little different: An oncoming glider photo sequence. | |
| Dec. 24 | Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas (or whatever holiday you celebrate), and here is a colorful sequence: A pilated woodpecker and his bright red cap (Santa Claus?). | |
| 16 | For today's update, I returned to the northern flicker, a wonderfully colorful woodpecker (especially in flight). | |
| And perhaps spare a thought or prayer for the unfortunate children and adults killed in Newtown, Conn. (as well as for those elsewhere in the world), a tragedy that should not have happened. | ||
| 9 | A fast, new page but one of beauty: Great blue heron. | |
| 2 | I'm slowly catching up with my freelancing. So I thought to perhaps try to catch up a little with my bird list, adding today an American coot. | |
| Nov. 25 | Something new for me: A great crested flycatcher. | |
| 18 | Updating continues! Today it's the turn of the downy woodpecker. | |
| 11 | For a long time now I've intended to update my hairy woodpecker photos, and today I think I did the bird justice, including male, female, and immature hairies. | |
| 4 | Today I summarized hawk watching at Jo Hays Vista by seven photos for three days at Jo Hays. | |
| Oct. 28 | Before Sandy hits central PA, I thought I'd put up a page somewhat earlier in the day, since I don't know if power will be consistent during the coming week. Anyway, today's page includes a series of photos of broad-winged hawks. | |
| 21 | Oops. Missed last week. But here's a sequence of two kestrels interacting with one another. | |
| And my second page of the day features a viceroy, a butterfly that is a monarch mimic. | ||
| 7 | Another new butterfly! (Who'd think October would be a good month for butterflies?) It's a skipper called sachem, enjoying calico aster nectar. | |
| Sept. 30 | A female fiery skipper (a small and pretty butterfly) posed at length for me today on purple Utah daisies. | |
| 23 | I've updated my page on the black swallowtail (a gorgeous butterfly), with three new photos and some text. | |
| 16 | On top of the freelancing, I have a wretched cold, but allow me to show a pretty if small butterfly: Peck's skipper. | |
| 9 | Intense freelancing continues, but today a short break for a look at the black-and-white warbler. | |
| 2 | More hummingbirds - featuring hummer action! | |
| Aug. 26 | It's hummer migration time, and to celebrate the arrival (and departure) of so many ruby-throated hummingbirds are two pages, one of females (by the rose of sharon) and of males (by the feeder). | |
| 19 | Freelancing is crazy, but I really wanted to present my photos of the colorful dragonfly, blue dasher. | |
| 12 | My freelancing continues to be wild, but here is a photo of a remarkable damselfly: the brilliant ebony jewelwing. | |
| July 29 | The excellent year for butterflies continues, and today here is the common ringlet, a brown butterfly that looks anything but common. | |
| 25 | Life is rather chaotic at the moment (freelancing feast, so to say); but I had some slow moments today, and here is a particularly striking moth: eight-spotted forester. | |
| 15 | A beautiful hummingbird moth: Snowberry clearwing. | |
| 5 | Four firework photos from the July 4 festivities. | |
| 1 | And here's a new butterfly with which to start the month: a little wood-satyr (a medium-size brown butterfly). | |
| Two weeks ago, I posted photos of the eastern amberwing (a very colorful if tiny dragonfly with amber wings), and today I encountered a female eastern amberwing, and included two photos of her on my amberwing page. |
