Before technical drawing and/or 3D applications (and, in all probability, afterward) made new realities possible, if I were to illustrate a poem, it was easily preferable to try to capture the sense of motion or of being stopped on the road by a wild use of line.

Both these illustrations, incidentally, were published in the small press publication Pulp, edited and published by Howard Sage.
