Sue portraits

The advantages of marriage are perfectly straightforward: One has a model on hand, and no, I don't mean behavior. Portrait painting!

The first stems from one of my Gauguin moods (for better or worse), on the basis of a photo I had taken of Sue. The room we were staying in was so small that the only way to get a decent shot involved using the room's mirror.

The second one, one of my larger paintings (20 something by 40 something inches), also comes from a photo, which I took while Sue and I were traveling through Europe via rail. Dinner on the train generally consisted of wine, French bread, and cheese.

Occasionally I draw from "life," such as my little finger-painting of Sue at Castlerigg.
