Tundra Swans
at Middle Creek, Pennsylvania, 2013
May 13, 2013

On March 3, when Sue and I went to the Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area (in Pennsylvania) this year, the snow geese were a no show; however, a thousand tundra swans were very active over the lake.

My first page on tundra swans, this year, concentrates on a few swans in flight.

The opening photo is a closeup of a single tundra swan.

The second is of a pair of tundra swans, with each right wing "kissing" the lake.

Five tundra swans, mostly in level flight.

The tundra migration route covers thousands of miles as they fly to the Canada northwest arctic.

Photo note: I used a Pentax K20D, with the Sigma 150-500mm lens, for these photos, taken on 3 March 2013.
