Snow Geese A Complex Swarm 1-minute, 20-second video (8-meg file) | March 11, 2010 |

This 80-second video is of a particular complex swarm (or goosestorm) at Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area, Pennsylvania, where the snow geese gather in the tens of thousands. The video was taken when there were an estimated 90,000 snow geese (and today the estimate was 120,000). It's as if the swarm as a life all its own, as it swirls back and forth.

Note: I'm trying a somewhat more sophisticated way of running a video, with a fine control on the bottom (courtesy of the people at DVDVideoSoft). I wish I could have thought of a way to remove the background voices (the viewing area was mobbed, which means about one to two hundred people were there).
Video note: The video was taken on Sunday, 7 March 2010, on an old Sony digital-8 camcorder; digital footage was captured and edited in Pinnacle Studio 12 (whose titling controls default to all capitals!); and a mp4 file was converted to Flash by DVDVideoSoft's free converter.
