Starlight
4 March 2014

Last night the crescent moon was low in the sky, and I wasn't sure how the lighting would be for landscapes. But I gave it a try.

For starters, the crescent moon didn't interfere with constellations, such as this view of Orion chasing Taurus through the trees.

The low light from the crescent moon did present interesting opportunities for landscapes, such as this icy field with trees.

The moon, above, doesn't appear as a crescent, because of the longer time exposure (25 seconds).

Stars seen through a lattice of branches fascinate me.

All in all, I'm more drawn than ever into nighttime photography.

Camera note: I used a Pentax K20D, with the SMC-A f2.8 20mm lens, on 3 March 2014 for these photos.
