Hooded Warbler Setophaga citrina | May 8, 2021 |
|
To my surprise, the other day I encountered a warbler than I hadn't photographed before: the hooded warbler (Setophaga citrina, formerly Wilsonia citrina).
Fortunately, the male is highly distinctive (because of his black "hood"), and so for once it my life, I had an easy identification on hand. |
The hooded warbler wasn't the most cooperative soul, hopping/flying around a dense section of forest, but his repeated singing helped me locate him. |
I wonder whether he'll find a mate and nest nearby? That happens if rarely around here.
Photo note: I used a Pentax K3-II, with the Pentax 150-450mm lens, on May 6, 2021, for these photos. |
