Chestnut-Sided Warbler Dendroica pensylvanica | May 22, 2011 |
|
The chestnut-sided warbler is one of the easier warblers to identify. Via its name, the warbler has chestnut-color sides. And a yellow crown.
Actually, chestnut-streaked warblers would be more exact, but chestnut-sided warbler is easier to pronounce. |
The tiny warblers are insectivores (they eat bugs).

And although the view is somewhat obscured, the chestnut-sided warbler's song is loud and clear.

This was the first time I've photograhed a chestnut-sided warbler, and I subsequently came across him on a number of other days. But I like the first set of photos the best.
Photo note: I used a Pentax K20D, with the Sigma 150-500mm lens, for the photos, taken on 5 May 2011. |
