Compleat Yellow-Rumped Warbler Dendroica coronata | May 15, 2011 |
|
On extremely rare occasions, I come across a truly cooperative bird. It's even rarer when the bird happens to be a warbler. But last week I met a male yellow-rumped warbler who posed for me.
How did the yellow-rumped come by his name? He has a yellow-rump.

Check out the left side. Note the yellow on top of the head and along the side. |
He has a handsome black mask and a white throat.

Do you want some more? Check out the right side. Looks like the left, doesn't it?

And however small the yellow-rumped warbler may happen to be, he can make himself larger.

Several days later, I met another yellow-rumped warbler, who sang for me. |
Is this the year of the yellow-rumped warbler?
Photo note: I used a Pentax K20D, with the Sigma 150-500mm lens, on May 7 and 11 for these photos. |
