Field Sparrow | November 2008 |
|
The field sparrow is among the prettiest sparrows around. Or perhaps I enjoy in particular its pastel colors. That plus the field sparrow's white eye ring and bright orange bill make it one of the easier sparrows to identify

The second image shows the field sparrow's red cap to good effect.

The immature field sparrow has virtually no facial markings, but it still has a white eye ring and its orange bill.

Photo note: I used the SMC 1000mm reflex lens with all three photos; the first was with the K200D body (in Oct. 2008) and the second two with the trusty *ist D (during 2007). |
