White-Throated Sparrow | January 2006 |
|
The white-throated sparrows are cold-weather birds at State College, Pennsylvania. They show up around October and remain until April. More or less.

The white-throats are ground feeders, but my best photos of them are from the times they perch in the tree from which two feeders are hung. They also enjoy suet leftovers that fall to the ground. | ||

In the game land to the north, white-throated sparrows are encounted very often.

In the game land, they seem fairly inquisitive, and I've photos of white-throats chirping directly at me.
Photo note: I used a Pentax *ist D, with the SMC-A* 300mm lens for the first two shots (taken in February 2005) and the SMC 400-600mm reflex lens for the third (in November 2005). |
