Baltimore Oriole Icterus galbula | May 16, 2022 |
The Baltimore oriole (Icterus galbula) is a remarkably beautiful and vivid bird. |
This May has been splendid for Baltimore orioles. It began with the surprise when one oriole landed on the suet feeder. Shortly thereafter there were two. |
Two was not a sufficient number. A third Baltimore oriole joined the party. |
One or more female orioles hung out deep in the cherry tree. They were somewhat timid in coming forward and preferred dining on blossoms. |
A final photo for today: on a wet day, a Baltimore oriole on the serviceberry bush outside my living room doors. |
Baltimore orioles are also known as "northern orioles."
Photo note: I used a Pentax K3-II, with the Pentax 150-450mm lens, in early May 2022, for these photos, taken out my living room at Cooper's Pond, State College, Pennsylvania. |
