Cooper's Hawk Stretches | 5 Jan. 2022 |
Since the late summer/early fall, an immature Cooper's hawk (Accipiter cooperii) has been hanging around the homes here, at Cooper's Pond. Of course, a number of different immature Cooper's hawks may be in the area, but I think she's the same one.
Back in August, the hawk was easy to spot opposite the sliding glass doors. (Subsequently, the hawk has taken to hiding rather successfully.)
Suddenly, there was a flurry of wings, and I thought the Cooper's hawk would take to the air.
Nope. The hawk remained where she was. (Was she giving me a direct stare?)
Afterward the Cooper's resumed watching - although more intently. |
I've photographed the same Cooper's hawk a number of times over the winter, but these remain my clearest photos.
Photo note: I used a Pentax K3-II, with the Pentax-D FA 150-450mm lens, during August 2021 for these photos. . |
