Bobwhite | June 2008 |
|
This was definitely a rare sighting for our backyard: A bobwhite came strolling through it. Call it a once-in-four-years sighting.
A bobwhite (or, more formally, a common bobwhite) is robin-sized if you can think of a robin as a balloon and is either a partridge or a quail or somehow related to the two.

The bobwhite (a male) pecked around at birdseed. Perhaps he was aware of being photographed.

After stopping for a drink at the blue water bowl, the bobwhite then meandered away.
Photo note: I used a Pentax *ist D, with the SMC-A* 300mm lens, for these photos, which were taken in early May 2008. |
