CWC Owl Banding From Screech to Snowy | Mar. 28, 2018 |
|
On Wednesday, March 14, 2018, seven owls were banded by Wayne Laubscher at Centre Wildlife Care (CWC), Robyn Graboski, director.
The snowy owl was banded last, but I can't resist beginning with a photo of the snowy (and Robyn).

Two of the tiny screech owls side by side (the one on the left has already been banded by Wayne). |

A red screech owl. |

The first barred owl was very feisty. The second (shown below) was somewhat shy. |
|
Having a snowy owl in for rehabiliation is a rare event, so Wayne gave the owl a thorough examination. |

Robyn and Wayne ensure that the band is a good fit. |

Seven owls banded! That was the most I've ever seen at one time.
I have a 19-photo album at the CWC public page on Facebook (you don't have to be an FB member to see them). Photo note: I used a Pentax K3, with the Sigma 10-20mm zoom, for these photos, taken on 14 March 2018. Note 2: I've a few photos from May 2014 when Wayne banded two short-eared owls. |
