A Nearby OspreyApril 4, 2010

My first osprey encounter of 2010 was on March 30 when I photographed in the far distance over the Toftrees pond an osprey carrying away a fish. On the following day I got lucky, and (perhaps the same osprey) flew over the pond and then immediately overhead.

I find it difficult to photograph any bird directly overhead (that is, I'm turning in circles while trying to keep my balance), and I lost part of her wingtip. All the same . . .

The osprey is a female, as noted by the "necklace" on the upper part of her breast.

  Ospreys are so incredibly beautiful!

Photo note: On March 31, 2010, I used a Pentax K20D, with the SMC-DA 55-300mm lens, for the photos.
