Phoenix the Juvenile Bald Eagle		Mar. 25, 2018

On March 14, 2018, Phoenix the juvenile bald eagle was banded, and on the next day she was released in central Pennsylvania. Of course, her story is longer than that, and I'll use the words of Robyn Graboski, the director of Centre Wildlife Care (CWC):
    Phoenix came in during the fall (Nov. 12) after she was hit by a car. We then discovered that she had lead poisoning and a bad bacterial infection. Lead depresses the immune system so they are more susceptible to infections. She needed extensive treatment to control the infection. Thank you to all for the donations and prayers to help her recovery.

    Thank you to Wayne Laubscher [below left; Ginnie, volunteer, center; and Robyn Graboski] for banding the bird. Thank you for the hard work of our many volunteers who helped care for her and the staff at Animal Medical Hospital for helping with medical care. She recovered against all odds and has risen from the ashes!

Note 2: Earlier bald eagle releases: Canace (January 2013), Xena (September 2013), Lana (October 2015), and Teddy (January 2016).
In January 2016, Zeus the golden eagle was released.
